The theme of our history project this term is The Ancient Maya – a civilisation that thrived in the forests of Central America over one thousand years ago. The Mayan people were creative, artistic and hard working. They believed that gods, goddesses and spirits controlled the way that nature worked, bringing Sun and water for food to eat.
We have been finding out about just a few of these gods, goddesses and spirits. They will introduce themselves to you on the spiritual catwalk. The Maya shared and passed down folk tales that tell us a lot about their everyday lives. One is called ‘The Chocolate Tree’. We have used this as a key text in our English work, imitating and improving different passages. The children’s catwalk presentation was choreographed by specialist dance teacher, Josie Sparks.
We hope you enjoy the short film of our performance (see below). Please share any comments on our blog.
