Children in Dolphin Class discussed the meaning and importance of Remembrance Day. We looked at copies of soldiers’ letters from the Western Front, Pathe Newsreel footage and The Sentry, a moving poem by Wilfred Owen. We then wrote our own emotive verses, some of which are published below.
Dolphin and Fox classes will be visiting the village war memorial this Friday (Armistice Day) at 11.00 a.m. to take part in a service of remembrance, organised by the Royal British Legion. We hope to share a few of our poems there as well.
On Friday 11th of November Year 4 and Year 6 had the privilege of going to the war memorial at St. Mary`s Church. Many people gathered to remember the soldiers who died in the war. As we held our two minute silence Cameron (in Year 4) and Libbie (in Year 6) had the honour of placing the wreath upon the statue and came back with pride.
